September 2024: Continued Voluntary Return Assistance Programs for Chadians in Partnership with the Chadian Government and IOM
Throughout August and September 2024, a total of five hundred and twenty-five Chadian migrants arrived at N'Djamena International Airport. These returns are part of a voluntary repatriation program organized by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in support of the Chadian government, thanks to funding from the European Union.
Personalized Support for Successful Reintegration
Chadian authorities, in collaboration with the IOM, have established a reception and support system for returning Chadians to facilitate their social and economic reintegration. Upon arrival, these individuals benefit from a comprehensive range of assistance, including:
- Medical Assistance: Healthcare services are provided to meet their needs.
- Psychosocial Assistance: Psychological support is offered to those in need.
- Entrepreneurship Training: All adults receive training in business management and entrepreneurship to develop their skills and promote their professional integration.
- Social Assistance: Possible financial and material assistance is provided to the most vulnerable to support their reintegration projects.
"This reception and reintegration program has been made possible thanks to the support of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), a long-standing partner of the Chadian government. We commend IOM's support in implementing our national social cohesion policy," said Fatimé Aldjineh Garfa, Minister Delegate to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Integration, Chadians Abroad and International Cooperation, during the reception of 110 returnees on September 27 from Niger.
