Chad strengthens cold chain management for effective vaccination
N'Djamena, 13 September 2024 – Ten Chadian health professionals are learning essential skills to ensure the quality of vaccines. The training, organized by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in partnership with the Ministry of Health, focused on good cold chain management practices and the use of the Nexleaf CTX app, an innovative digital tool for vaccine monitoring.
Strategic training to improve immunization coverage
Preserving the effectiveness of vaccines is a major public health issue. The cold chain, which keeps vaccines at a constant temperature, is a crucial part of this preservation. For this reason, IOM organize a training for health professionals, who are now able to train their colleagues and deploy the Nexleaf CTX application in their structures.
" It is essential to ensure that vaccines are available and of good quality. Thanks to this training and the use of the Nexleaf CTX app, we now have a powerful tool to control the quality of vaccines and be alerted in case of problems,"said Dr. Abdelsadick Hidjab Abdoulaye, Deputy Director of Immunization at Chad's Ministry of Health
This initiative is part of IOM's efforts to improve the health of migrants and mobile populations in Chad. The Organization's health assessments help to detect health problems early, ensure safe travel, protect the health of host communities and facilitate the integration of migrants.
The International Organization for Migration, as the United Nations Migration Agency, provides and supports comprehensive preventive and curative health programmes that benefit and are equitably accessible to migrants and mobile populations.
The benefits of this training
- Improve the quality of immunization services : Through better control of the cold chain and the use of a digital monitoring tool, the quality of vaccines will be guaranteed, thereby strengthening people's confidence in immunization programs.
- Building health system capacity : Trained professionals will be able to share their knowledge with their colleagues, helping to build capacity across the health system.
- Better meeting the needs of migrants : By ensuring a better quality of health care, Chad will be able to better meet the needs of migrants on its territory.
This training is an important step in strengthening the Chadian health system. By investing in the training of its health professionals and using innovative digital tools, Chad is laying the foundations for more effective vaccination coverage, including the care of migrants.
